In response, the Minister of Dutch Mr. Dekker indicated the Dutch Gambling market’s target date to be January 2021. coronavirus led to the complete shutdown of businesses across the world. There on, land-based casinos claim that many people have switched to illegal gambling providers, with no legal licensing. The gambling companies could have avoided this if the Remote Gambling Act was in action.

On the contrary, people raise concerns among the interested operators of online gambling casinos about standing up to the license protocols in time. The Ministry of Security has also been occupied with multiple ongoings at the present moment. It also includes taking preventive measures to stop the spread of the virus and balance the economy so that the country does not have to face the financial downfall. As a result, the Minister does not deny a slight delay. Giving further explanations, Mr. Dekker said that the delay would be for a couple of months only.

 

Extension Of Cooling Period For The Penalised Operators

The penalized online gambling casinos are currently facing a two-year cooling-off period. It is requested by the government to extend the cooling-off period since the postponement of the opening of the gambling market. Minister Dekker agreed to live with a limited extension of the cooling-off period, provided that the Remote Gambling Act’s delay remains limited. It is going with the flow, i.e., letting the cooling-off period proceed with its proposed date. If the current cooling-off period of two years is maintained, but the remote Gambling Act faces a possible delay, it would mean that a large number of penalized operators would be ready at the commencement of an online gambling market. The clause will be forwarded to the House of Representatives to approve the motion in a vote.
